To get commissioning projects underway when in-house resources are stretched or when a list would benefit from some dedicated additional resource, we can help. We offer everything from pre-commissioning research (desk and field-based) to competitor and market analysis, author selection, setting up advisory panels and peer review to building the robust business cases and rigorous financial and investment appraisals you will need to support your publishing decisions.
We have the confidence and experience to offer you clear recommendations, supported by the data and insight you and your decision makers will want to see.
CONTENT DEVELOPMENT & AUTHOR MANAGEMENT
We have a wealth of editorial experience between us, so are able to provide first rate content development and author management services. We can provide end to end project management including the full range of editorial services required throughout the process, from briefing your authors and writers right up to providing finished content for press or final output. Or we can help you to work smarter too, by clearing some of those more time-consuming tasks from your Editorial Team’s desks, such as securing permissions, commissioning and collating reviews, image research etc.
Our highly experienced freelance copyeditors, proof-readers and project managers are dedicated to ensuring the highest possible quality for all of the content that we work with. We can take content and manuscripts from first draft to final output or support with separate pre-press or other editorial activities as you need. We are comfortable with working on digital content and hard copy and happy to liaise directly with authors or suppliers if that would help you too, including creating briefs and providing quality assurance, checks and balances as needed.
We are pleased to have our expert design associate on-board for covers and text design services. This enables us to share over 20 years of specialist book design experience (for a huge range of publishing houses) with Just Content clients. We also work closely with other partners, for print and digital projects alike and can offer a full range of design services from the simple to the complex and all at competitive prices.
Working with our partner suppliers, on and offshore, we can provide full publishing packager services where additional capacity is needed to deliver on a project, or as an outsourced provider for any area of a publishing programme. We are experienced in end-to-end packaging for all kinds of projects, simple to complex and well placed to deploy the expert resource needed to deliver to time and budget, always with quality in mind.
IMAGE RESEARCH & SELECTION
Our team are all experienced in working with highly illustrated content and ideally placed to undertake image research on your behalf. We have accounts with a number of image banks and are used to working with briefs that require both technical and aesthetic expertise and accuracy. We know how much time image research can take and are happy to help reduce the strain on your internal teams by supporting with image research and selection.
We have all worked in-house and know how much time permissions clearance can take! For those projects where your team’s time would be better spent elsewhere, or when time is short before the pre-press or production process must begin, let us help. We can provide our own templates for permissions applications and tracking or use yours, whatever is better for you. We can also assess content for third party usage, providing you with a detailed report and recommendations or liaise directly with your authors and writing teams, as you prefer.
Want to explore a new business or product proposition, or perhaps you are looking at entry to a new sector or subject area? Or would you just like some initial feedback from teachers or educators? We can help with your research needs and help you to scope requirements from full reports to smaller scale qualitative or quantitative information gathering. We love to talk to educators and learners to translate their needs in to viable product and customer value propositions. We are experienced in desk-based research and fieldwork and are connected to a number of educators that we can reach out to on your behalf. We can provide our findings in whatever output suits you and support you with presentations to stakeholders if that would be helpful.
Need an external view on a publishing decision or new business proposition? Or is it time to review your ways of working? Or to evaluate your strategy or direction of travel? You may be thinking about how best to optimise your organisational design to drive your business needs? Or perhaps you need some help with your transition to digital?
